KY-013 NTC Thermistor Analog Temperature Sensor Module
KY-013 overview
KY-013 NTC Thermistor Analog Temperature Sensor module has an NTC Thermistor and is mounted on a breakout board with a 10K-ohm resistor. An NTC Thermistor is a Negative Temperature Coefficient resistor. This means that the resistance is inversely proportional to temperature. The resistance increases when temperature decreases and vice-versa. Thermistors are temperature-sensing elements made of semiconductor material that have been sintered in order to display large changes in resistance in proportion to small changes in temperature.KY-013 NTC Thermistor Analog Temperature Sensor measures ambient temperature based on the resistance of the thermistor. The KY-013 NTC Thermistor Analog Temperature Sensor consists of an NTC thermistor and a 10 kΩ resistor. The resistance of the thermistor varies with the surrounding temperature.
This resistance can be measured by using a small and measured direct current, or dc passed through the thermistor in order to measure the voltage drop produced. These solid state temperature sensors actually act like electrical resistors that are temperature sensitive. That is where the name, a clear combination of the words thermal and resistor, comes from.
