HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor For Arduino

HC-SR04 overview

The HC-SR04 is an Ultrasonic Sensor For Arduino. Main ratings: Power Supply +5V DC; Quiescent Current <2mA; Working Current 15mA; Effectual Angle <15°. This page brings together the HC-SR04 pinout and key specifications, with the full datasheet PDF to preview below or download.

HC SR04 HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor is also called HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Range Finder. Ultrasonic Sensor module HC-SR04 provides a 2cm – 400cm non-contact measurement function, the ranging accuracy can reach 3mm. The modules include ultrasonic transmitters, receivers, and control circuits.

The ultrasonic sensor uses sonar to determine the distance to an object like bats or dolphins do. It offers excellent non-contact range detection with high accuracy and stable readings in an easy-to-use package. From 2cm to 400 cm or 1” to 13 feet. Its operation is not affected by sunlight or black material like Sharp rangefinders are (although acoustically soft materials like cloth can be difficult to detect). It comes complete with the Ultrasonic Sensor transmitter and a receiver module

HC-SR04 pinout

HC-SR04 pinout diagram
NameDescription
VccThe Vcc pin powers the sensor, typically with +5V
TriggerThe trigger pin is an Input pin. This pin has to be kept high for 10us to initialize measurement by sending a US wave.
EchoThe echo pin is an Output pin. This pin goes high for a period of time which will be equal to the time taken for the US wave to return back to the sensor.
GroundThis pin is connected to the Ground of the system.
